YOUNG WRITERS OF THE FUTURE – YOUR CHANCE TO WIN A TRIP TO DISNEYLAND PARIS

As part of our pursuit to engage, enthuse and inspire children between the ages of 4 to 14 to write creatively; Explore Learning are offering children across our region the chance to win a trip to Disneyland Paris and £500 worth of books for their school.

This exciting new opportunity that the company are offering to members of the community runs from now until Friday 5th as part of the ‘National Young Writers Award.’

For the past eight years, Explore Learning has been inspiring children to write, from the young authors in the making to those a little more reluctant. So far we’ve had over 47 million words written by children eager to win the prestigious first prize – a family trip to Disneyland Paris and £500 worth of books for their school presented!

These exciting prizes are presented by their guest judge, who this year they have aquired none other than BAFTA -winning English naturalist, writer and television presenter Steve Backshall.

Steve was the TV presenter of ‘Deadly 60’ where given a mere six months; he was tasked with finding 60 of the deadliest creatures on the planet. –

This aired as a 26 week series on BBC1, CBBC, Discovery and Animal Planet channels.

Each year, a new theme is created and this year’s theme is ‘The Future’.

“The competition is open to children aged 4 – 14 who are metaphorically transported to the year 3017 where a lot of things have changed. They will need to consider the new buildings that have been constructed, new technology that has been invented and the fancy new transport that everyone whizzes around on. We’re looking for the best story of 500 words or fewer which is set one thousand years in the future.”

Each child will get a certificate for taking part in the competition and there will be one winner from the Ashton based centre who’ll receive a trophy as well as everyone having the chance to win the grand prize.

There is more inspiration on the website explorelearning.co.uk/young writers.

The booklets can be collected from the centre in Ashton-Under-Lyne and posted to head office on the address highlighted or families can enter online at: explorelearning.co.uk/young writers
