Now established as one of Hyde’s oldest and best traditions – Hyde Rotary Club’s Santa Claus’ annual sleigh route has become a series of ‘practice runs’ around the town before the elderly gentleman departs on his busy night – delivering presents to children around the world!

This year the Rotary Club’s Christmas Sleigh, steered as tradition demands by Father Christmas, will be setting off touring of the various districts in Hyde between December 1st and the 22nd.

Helped by the Rotary Club members and volunteers, Father Christmas and his helpers will be visiting various locations, including the town’s supermarkets and superstores in the run up to the festive celebrations, where they will be handing out Christmas cards and sweets.

The club will be asking you to spare your change as they collect to continue to fund fantastic causes, help support local projects and assist many worthy charities in your area in community projects throughout the year, it also gives the children the opportunity to come out and ask Father Christmas for those last minute Christmas presents; – and if you’re lucky, have a picture taken with Father Christmas.

Hyde Rotary President, Karen Dorney, said, “I would like to encourage residents and children to come out on to the streets this festive period and get involved in the Christmas spirit and donate to our collection to help support the many local projects we will be supporting next year.

Please note routes are subject to weather, road conditions and the number of helpers on each day and night.
