As a veteran player, Callaway sales manager and twice Lancashire Amateur Champion, Martin Wild needs no introduction to the golfers amongst us. However, you may not know that he is a patron of Willow Wood Hospice, and a committed champion of hospice care.

Martin will be hosting a golf tournament on Friday 13 September as part of Willow Wood’s 20th Anniversary celebrations. Held at the very attractive wooded Ashton-under-Lyne Golf Club the course, which nestles in the foothills of the Pennines, does present quite a challenge. Martin said: “As well as providing a great day of golf, the tournament will raise much needed funds. I was shocked when I realised that, although it costs £7,340 every single day to provide its loving, specialised care, Willow Wood have to raise over 79% of that from their community. Having experienced at first hand the support, compassion and wonderful care given to patients and their families, I pledged to do whatever I could to help.”

Event organiser Elaine McConnell said: “I can’t thank Martin enough for hosting this tournament on our behalf, we’re all really looking forward to the day. We are offering hole sponsorships with advertising opportunities at each tee and anyone who would like to take this opportunity to advertise their goods or services should contact me direct on: – or ring me on 0161 330 7788.”

With refreshments on arrival and at the halfway mark, a delicious three course dinner, prize presentation and more, represents good value for £300 per four ball. There’ll be competitions along the way and a luxury raffle in the evening.

Online booking is available by going to, or alternatively contact: or 0161 330 7788 for more information.
