Broadbottom and Hattersley stations have been awarded prestigious “Cheshire’s Best Kept Station Awards”.
Broadbottom Station was the proud winner of the “Best Newcomer Award” for new best kept station entries, and Hattersley Station won a special prize for a celebration event they held in honour of The Queen’s 90th birthday.
The awards were collected at a regional awards dinner attending by Tameside Mayor, Cllr Phillip Fitzpatrick, and were presented to the station staff and volunteers by the Mayor and Jonathan Reynolds, MP for Stalybridge and Hyde on Friday, alongside local councillors.
Mr Reynolds said: “Well done to the staff and customers who take pride in their stations. These fantastic awards are well deserved. Long before I was an MP, I was a founder member of Friends of Broadbottom Station, so it is a special source of pride to see the community activists who give up their time to keep the station at its best receive the recognition they deserve.
Huge congratulations to the Friends of Hattersley Station for such a wonderful celebration in honour of the Queen last year. It was a brilliant, fun day full of community spirit, and a great use of the station. Clearly the judges thought so too!”
