The sweet sound of music is in the air at Hyde Community College now that the school have launched their own record label ‘Hyde CC Records’ and is aiming to provide bands, musicians and vocalists with a professional and accessible place to lay down their tracks and record and release music from their talented students.

Students are able to book recording sessions with Head of Music, Mr Anthony or Mr Garlick and can record & release their own music.

Mr Garlick said: “Everything is set-up ready for bands, soloists and vocalists to make a record and we can do anything from solo acoustic to full rock bands. We want our students to be able to come in here and feel comfortable.

One of the first bands to take advantage of this facility is the alt-rock ‘New revolution’ who plan to release its very first debut EP later this year. But first, they’re giving a taste of the project with a brand-new single, “Lovebird Scumbag” You can listen to the song below:

New Revolution is a young rock band from Hyde Community College, who are currently making a name for themselves in the local area. The band have been together for less than a year but have already started writing, recording and releasing their own music.

With members as young as 12 years old, the band is doing remarkably well! They rehearse every lunchtime in the Music Department and are constantly writing and performing new songs.

The band got the bug for performing and making music following a school concert. Since then the band have competed at a local Battle of the Bands, at the fabulous Pop Cafe in Hyde and represented the school further afield in Manchester too. The band exudes a fantastic energy and passion for music.

The band have taken full advantage of the school’s new record label, Hyde CC Records’ and have started to record and release their own music. The music can be heard by searching ‘New Revolution Hyde Music Department’ on YouTube.

New Revolution are certainly a band to look out for in the future.

“The debut EP builds on the band’s early work”, Mr Garlick said, “which incorporates their raw, energized sound, with streetwise lyrics. Overall, I think they have really come together as musicians and songwriters and are able to get a good mix of everyone’s differing influences into this new record.”

The bands latest releases can be heard on YouTube by searching ‘Hyde CC Records.’

The new studio is proving to be popular in school with students already booking time to record. The label has had a helping hand from industry experts and is now being promoted far and wide on social media. A musician from the band ‘Curse of Lono,’ currently on tour in the USA said: ‘The record label has clearly lit a fire in all those involved. This is exactly the kind of thing that needs supporting, encouraging and nurturing.’

A very proud Head of Music, Stephen Anthony commented on the emphasis that Hyde Community College puts on encouraging the schools raw musical talent, “We find that students who take-up music, whether it be singing or playing an instrument, teaches them discipline, self-belief, and the importance of hard work. It gives them confidence. As Head of Music, the joy is seeing students play together, or play on a stage. They blossom, and that confidence spills over into every part of their lives.”

“Working with New Revolution has been great,” says Stephen, They’re skilled and competent, I’m sure they will take their songwriting and musicality to the next level.”
