Organisers from the ‘Hyde Past & Present’ social media site have been making final preparations for their annual Hyde Town Calendar photographic competition, which will be printed and be available for distribution ready for 2019.
Showcasing work from some of the best local photographers, entries submitted for the Hyde Calendar Photographic Competition 2019, will go on display at POP on the 22nd and will on display to the public until the 30th September, after which the 3 winning photographs; as judged by Ken at Hyde Camera Centre, will put onto canvases for the winners to keep.
This year’s competition has been generously sponsored by Hyde Camera Centre, with a contribution from Tameside Archives.
At the exhibition it is envisaged that visitors will get to enjoy a photographic journey through a series of photographs showing slices of the life of a typical Northern Town. From inspiring images of iconic buildings, town features, characters, beauty spots, local achievements and candid shots of everyday life featuring all the different cultures the town enjoys, will all be at POP in September.
The event will be free for anyone to attend and enjoy. In fact, you can view photographs of Hyde now; all by local photographers, including entries from students of Alder High School, whilst watching a large screen slideshow of old photos of Hyde, running on a constant loop whilst enjoying refreshments in POP’s cafe area.
Once the finalists have been chosen, prints of photo’s will be available to order, with a percentage of the sales going to POP, (a not for profit community hub)
POP in Hyde is a multi function venue in the middle of Hyde, situated in the Old Post Office next to the Town Hall. POP hosts many regular events of different kinds and offer a Cafe/Boutique and Art Gallery which is open during the day.
