Said to be one of the boroughs favourite monthly events, Glossop’s Artisan Market will be open this weekend (Saturday 13th October) when bargain hunters and regular shoppers will see more than 25 local and visiting crafters and artisans who’ll gather to showcase their handmade goods and original artwork on Glossop’s outside Market Square.

Open from 9.00am till 4.00pm, this growing event has become a major launch pad of sales for local artisans, who present a diverse array of handcrafted and locally-produced goods to shoppers on a monthly cycle that has become one of the most popular town centre shopping events.

“With only 11 weeks to Christmas, and with thoughts turning to searching out those ‘special’ presents, October, November and December’s special Christmas Artisan Market’s in Glossop are sure to be bumper ones with a great mix of new and returning artisans who will be presenting their handmade goods.

Colin Deeley, Glossop Market’s Superintendent said, “It’s wonderful to see so many returning crafters, artists and foodies, who have become favourites with many Glossop shoppers and have found tremendous value in connecting personally with their customers and with fellow artisans.”

Showing on Saturday’s Market will be an eclectic mix of quirky artworks, and a vast assortment of artisan goods including ceramics, house wares, natural products, handmade jewellery, cards and paper goods, as well as several artisan food vendors selling specialty, Cheeses and Chutneys.

And after you’ve finished filling your bags with bargains, amidst a backdrop of musical entertainment take a stroll around the many traditional stalls situated within the well loved Market Hall. There you’ll find bargains galore from Fresh Fruit and Veg’, to Fine Art Paintings; – from Modern Furnishings and Quality Meat products to traditional Sweets and Confectionery, where you can go back in time and pick-up those lines that you used to find on the ‘penny-tray’!

After all that shopping, why not try dropping into one of the town’s many pubs, bars, cafés and tea rooms for a glass of wine, fine cask beers, coffee and cakes, afternoon tea, or a full blown delicious meal from one of the town’s numerous restaurants many who specialize in a diverse variety of authentic dishes!
