There’s no doubt that interest, and more importantly participation, in girls’ football has been growing at an incredible rate and it has been reported that the game is now the number one female sport in England as well as the fastest growing sport in the UK.
Hyde Primary Schools’ take girls football very seriously and building on the success of training sessions and recent inter-schools games, sports teachers were keen to see the development of the game continue.
That resulted in the Hyde School Sport Girls Football Tournament, which was played last week which featured 6 local Primary School girls’ teams from around the region compete in some highly enjoyable matches.
Played in great spirit each team played against each other in a ‘Round Robin’ competition trying to be the team at the top of the league when it finished.
Some great skills were on show and many of the girls on the teams play for local clubs and academies!
At the end it was Dowson that came out the victors taking home the trophy!
