DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF MARK WORTHINGTON

It is with great sadness that we can confirm of the sudden passing of Hyde Academy Director, Mark Worthington, (52) who died unexpectedly yesterday. Our thoughts are with his wife Helen and Marks family at this most difficult time.

Hyde United FC General Manager, Pete Ainger, said, “Mark was one of a kind – his passion for the game and his driving force behind the creation of the highly successful Hyde United Academy has changed the lives of many young people during his guidance. He will be terribly missed by Directors, staff, players and the many volunteers past and present and we are so grateful for his immeasurable contribution to making the name of Hyde United Football Club and the Academy one to be proud of.”

Fellow Director and Chair of Hyde United, Steve Hartley, added, “We are all still letting this tragic news sink in. Mark has been an integral part of our club for the last 6 years, as a hugely successful motivator and driver of both the club and our Academy programme; hopefully we will continue that work in his memory.”

To show their respect to Mark, there will be a laying a wreath and a minutes silence before the Academy games scheduled for today.
