Last week (11th June 2019) Tameside Rotary Club held their annual ‘Night of Cash’ which saw many local charities, voluntary groups, and community associations all benefit from the money raised by the club during their highly successful ‘Santa Sleigh’ Christmas tour of the area.
With The Mayor and his consort in attendance, over 30 local charities and organisations received cheques of various denominations to help them continue their vital works within the community.
Among those who attended; Susan Wilson received a cheque on behalf of Tameside Hospital league of Friends, who will use their gift to buy a new toaster. Also in attendance were Joyce Bowerman and Cath Lee, who will use their award to put on a ‘Meat & Potato Pie Supper’ at St Peter’s Community Gathering.
Mike Barlow attended from ‘The Shed’ and they will use the money to provide cooking classes to single men who don’t know how to cook well, and this will not only help them cook, but also encourage them think of healthy options when cooking too.
Tameside Concert Society also received money from Tameside Rotary and members of the club look forward to hearing one of the many weekly recitals currently being sponsored by them at Hyde Town Hall, when they perform on Friday 21st July at 1pm – a fabulous musical event, where everyone is welcome.
Drawing the proceeding to a close, Tameside Rotary President, Cliff Hall thanked everyone for attending the annual ‘Cash Awards’ presentation and looked forward to welcoming many more charities and community groups, who will hopefully benefit from next year’s event.
