Although we are all presently gripped with watching ‘The World Cup’ soccer tournaments in Russia, locally, several Primary Schools recognise that although sporting events may vary in size; some involving professionals whilst others are competed in by young amateurs and children; the one thing they all have in common is the sharing of passion and love for different sporting activities.
From local leagues and inter-schools competitions to mega events such as the Olympics and the World Cup, sport, at all levels has the power to bring people together for a common aim or purpose.
One such event was the recent Relays Tournament for Hyde School Sports, which was held at Hyde Community College for year 3 and 4 Primary pupils.
Eight schools from across the region took part, meaning 64 children were lighting up the track in 6 different races; all trying to beat the rest!
The eventual winners were Gee Cross, who won on points and took home the trophy after winning the most races.
A really big ‘thank you’ to the five Sports Leaders from Hyde Community College, who assisted with the competition which was thoroughly enjoyed by supporters and children alike!
