WILLOW WOOD’S COMMUNITY HUB – OUT AND ABOUT THROUGHOUT TAMESIDE

WILLOW WOOD’S COMMUNITY HUB – OUT AND ABOUT THROUGHOUT TAMESIDE

Willow Wood’s Community Hub is a familiar sight now around Tameside and Glossop as it pays a weekly visit to five destinations between 10am to 3pm daily, offering advice, support and information.

The Hub is driven by support worker Derek Thompson, and he is available throughout the day to answer questions about our care.  It is well stocked with literature about the range of services we can offer to people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.  Our START Clinic – Support, Treatment, Assessment, Rehabilitation and Therapy – offers services such as complementary therapies like aromatherapy, reflexology and Reiki, which sit alongside the more conventional treatments like physiotherapy as part of our holistic approach.  The START Clinic also provides symptom management, creative therapies, Looking Good Feeling Better ‘pamper’ days and much more.

Information is also available about our end of life care and our family support services, which include counselling for both adults and young children and bereavement support.

If you would like to have an informal chat about how Willow Wood may be able to help you or your family, why not pay a visit to the Hub when it visits your local town centre – Derek might even make you a cup of tea!

The designated stops until the end of the year are:

Monday                               :                               Droylsden Centre Car Park

Tuesday                               :                              Denton Morrison’s Car Park

Wednesday                        :                               Hyde Market Place

Thursday                             :                              Mossley Market Place

Friday                                    :                            Glossop Town Hall

As well as the main area of the Hub there is a smaller, more private room so you can be assured of confidentiality.  A number of people are already benefitting from Willow Wood’s care as a direct result of referrals made via the Hub.

Many people do not realise that you can actually make an appointment for an assessment at our START Clinic yourself – if you feel our care would be right for you or a member of your family you don’t need a doctor or nurse to refer you.  Derek would be pleased to advise you, or you can just pick up some leaflets about our care and take them away to read at your leisure.

We’re also recruiting volunteers to help on the Willow Wood Community Hub and if you feel that this would be of interest please get in touch.

For more information on this, or to book an appointment please ring 0161 330 1100 and ask for the START Clinic.
