WELL DRESSING DONATION FROM HYDE ROTARY

The new President of Hyde Rotary Club, Alan Oldham visited Hyde Chapel last Friday, as final preparations were being carried out on the displays that would form part of this year’s Gee Cross Well Dressing event.

Well Dressing in Gee Cross is part of a historic tradition; with records revealing that ‘well dressings’ were held regularly in Gee Cross from the 1820’s until around 1878. The Gee Cross and District Women’s Institute re-introduced the celebrations in the year 2000, and celebrations have taken place annually ever since.

This year’s theme being in recognition of the life-saving work carried out on by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) The annual Well Dressing’ ceremony takes place on Sunday 9th July from 2.00pm outside The Grapes in Gee Cross.

The Women’s Institute also got a nice surprise when Alan presented them with a cheque for £200.00.
