LET’S ALL LOOK OUT FOR OUR NEIGHBOURS DURING THIS COLD SPELL

Today’s Met Office warning of severe weather, icy blasts, snow, blizzards and temperatures well below zero causing travel disruption, and with further wintery weather forecasts looking grim for the next few days, we’re advising all members of our communities to look after themselves and their neighbours’ during the cold snap.

This forecast of extreme temperatures across all regions of the UK has raised fears the elderly could be left housebound and unable to re-stock their food or medication supplies.

Remember many of our vulnerable and elderly neighbours can find it difficult to get out to the shops or to keep their house adequately heated during the cold weather.

So if you know of elderly people living down your street just pop in and check that they’re OK, whilst the big freeze continues.

Let’s show some good old Northern community spirit by introducing yourself to a potentially vulnerable neighbour and offering to help our older friends with shopping and errands, so they don’t have to venture out.
