Friends, Managers and local Councillors turned out in force to say a big ‘thank you’ to Pete Garcia, Managing Director of long standing wrought ironwork & steel fabrications company, PG Fabrications Ltd, who answered ‘The Together Centre’s’ plea for a ‘community noticeboard’ by manufacturing, installing and donating a purpose built bulletin board to advertise and announce the Centre’s forthcoming community programmes and events.

The Together Centre, based at Loxley House, Dukinfield, runs a day centre for different groups across the community. But it’s much more that a ‘community centre’ – it has a vision; a vision to be a place of possibility. A place which places local people at its centre and a place that values the vital role played by local communities.

Councillor Dawson Lane explained, “We want the centre to be a place where people can come together, feel safe, well and happy, learn, grow and feel a sense of pride and ownership. That’s why businesses like PG Fabrications are considered to be the backbone of our local economy – and, by their generous donations and selfless endeavors, like this high quality, top of the range notice board, they make our communities stronger.

Councillor Jackie Lane added, ““It is great to see a local company so committed to helping out the local community. Many people don’t realise that all the hard work put in by those who run our small local businesses and work for them; with the early starts, late finishes and weekends; helps create jobs for others, while providing the goods and services every neighbourhood needs, and Pete Garcia’s family run business is a shining example of such a company!”

Pete Garcia, speaking at the presentation said, “With over 45years of working in and around Tameside, we have gained such a valuable insight on the power of strong communities that we have chosen to put the people of those organizations at the very centre of our business philosophy; thus underpinning our sustained commitment to corporate responsibility.”
