Hyde Rotary Club will be in the Clarendon Shopping Centre on Saturday 21st April from 11.00am until 3.00pm, where a specialist team of doctors and nurses will be in attendance to take Hyde shoppers’ blood pressure, and also be on hand to offer advice about medical problems, whilst distributing organ donor cards.
As many people know, high blood pressure is a contributing factor in around half of strokes in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. That’s why Hyde Rotary, in partnership with a local team of Doctors and Nurses will be offering FREE blood pressure tests and advice.
“Many people have high blood pressure without realizing it because it often has no symptoms. High blood pressure is far more common than you would think and it can be deadly, but it is treatable! With events like this, we can reduce the occurrence of strokes.” says Hyde Rotary President, Alan Oldham
There are more than 100,000 strokes in the UK each year. That’s around one stroke every five minutes.” Alan added.
This is an annual event that offers the community in Hyde the chance to speak to medical experts.
“Last year we tested four individuals who needed urgent medical consultation and were advised to make an appointment with their GP to discuss their reading!”
Please try and attend Hyde Rotary Clubs Stroke Awareness Day and have your blood pressure checked, and with the Rotary’s support every year, we hope to reach those in our community who are at highest risk.
Visit the Hyde Rotary Club stand situated within the Shopping Centre on Saturday 21st April from 11.00am until 3.00pm – it’s better to be safe than sorry!
