The organisers of Glossop’s Artisan Market, once again deserve praise for putting on another great event for local artisans, crafters and speciality food producers who graced the town by displaying their hand crafted goods on the market’s traditional cobbled square.

Glossop’s monthly Artisan Market maybe small in comparison to lager towns, but nevertheless the town’s speciality market event is one not to be missed.

Its’ a fun filled, bargain hunters paradise, where shoppers can browse around the many stalls to the sounds of live music, and speak directly to the markets carefully selected local food producers, artists and craftspeople who have gathered in one place to bring you their fabulous artworks, crafted items, scented candles etc’ and a huge variety of other home made products; there’s even award winning cheeses and micro-brewed bottled beers!

And once you’ve sampled the unique, ornate and sometimes quirky items on sale, you can pop right in to the indoor market for other culinary delights that include sweets and treats, chocolate, cakes, artisan and speciality breads, home-made jams, chutney and pickles and fresh and cooked quality meats and pies. Also in the indoor market you’ll find all the traditional vendors are there too, selling everything from, Fine Art and one-off tee-shirts, to antiques toys and games, hardware products, contemporary furnishings, haberdashery and beauty products and gifts.

Think of those lovely continental markets you find in bijou Mediterranean villages where residents support their local producers. …Where it’s hard to resist such delights because you know you can trust where they are sourced from. Well Glossop’s Markets are the quintessential English equivalent!

If you believe in ‘Shopping Local ‘and want to see more enterprising individuals and local producers flourish, make sure you pay a visit to Glossop’s monthly Artisan or traditional weekday Market. You’ll be glad you did!

If you can’t make it to Glossop’s next Artisan Market event on the 9th June 2018 – There’s a thrice-weekly covered market in the Market Hall next to the Town Hall every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
